Old Crow Alice Frost Community Campus

The Old Crow Alice Frost Community Campus first opened its doors to meet the education and training needs of the Vuntut Gwitchin people in 1987. Housed in several locations over the years, it now has its own building with two spacious classrooms and offices where various programs and courses are delivered. Strong partnerships with the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Chief Zzeh Gittlit School and other agencies have ensured the success of the campus programming in this most northerly Yukon community of three hundred people.

The Alice Frost Campus focuses on skills training that are most applicable to life and employment opportunities in Old Crow. Such programs and courses include the following: Outdoor Power Equipment Technician, Oil and Gas Training, Fire Arm Certification (FAC), Wilderness First Aid, Boat Safety, Food Preparation, Carpentry and Chainsaw Safety. To prepare students for further education and career paths, a host of academic programs are delivered as well: Academic Upgrading, College Prep, Computer Skills, Online Courses, along with Academic advising and counseling. This most northerly campus certainly brings the college to the Vuntut Gwitchin people of Old Crow!

The campus building is named after Chief Alice Frost (1937-1998) who was a fierce advocate for education and instrumental in creating a College campus in Old Crow. (Alice Frost biography)
